Luke 11:1 - 4
---------------------------------------------
1 And it came to pass, that,
as he was praying in a certain place,
when he ceased,
one of his disciples said unto him,
Lord, teach us to pray,
as John also taught his disciples.
---------------------------------------------
2 And he said unto them,
When ye pray, say,
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
as in heaven,
so in earth.
---------------------------------------------
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
---------------------------------------------
4 And forgive us our sins;
for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
We can pray the Lord's Prayer as it is, i.e. especially if we are experiencing difficulty finding words or concentrating whilst praying:
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name,
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory,
For ever and ever
Amen
As well as making the Lord's Prayer as it is,
we can also use the as a model or example of how to pray:
PRAISE GOD,
AGREE WITH HIS WILL TO BE DONE ON EARTH,
JUST AS IT IS CARRIED OUT IN HEAVEN,
ASK FOR OUR NEEDS
ASK FOR FORGIVENESS ACCORDING TO HOW WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO HURT US,
ASK GOD TO KEEP US AWAY FROM TEMPTATION AND TO PROTECT US FROM EVIL
ACKNOWLEDGE TO GOD HIS OWNERSHIP OF EVERYTHING, HIS POWER AND ENTITLEMENT TO ALL THE GLORY
ACKNOWLEDGE THAT GOD LIVES ETERNALLY WITHOUT ENDING
AFFIRM THAT YOU WISH IT SO LET IT BE I.E. AMEN!
